Mr. Barrette is a consultant that specializes in vehicle collision reconstruction. Mr. Barrette has a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology (Milwaukee School of Engineering), an M.S. degree in Engineering (UW-Milwaukee), and an M.S. degree in Biomedical Engineering (Wayne State University) with a Bridge Graduate Certificate in Injury Biomechanics. He was a crash investigator with the Lake County, Illinois Sheriff's Police from 1985 to 1993 and started teaching at the Northwestern University Traffic Institute (now the Northwestern University Center for Public Safety) in 1990. Mr. Barrette authored the chapter titled Reconstruction of Heavy Truck Crashes in the Traffic Crash Reconstruction book published by Northwestern University, and the chapter on Hit and Run Crash Investigations in the Crash Investigation Manual, and is currently writing several chapters in the upcoming Traffic Crash Reconstruction book, 3rd Edition. He has authored many of the topics taught in the Crash Investigation and Reconstruction class series and is the primary curriculum author of the Pedestrian Bicycle Traffic Crash Reconstruction course. He is also an adjunct professor in Wayne State University’s on-line Graduate degree program in Biomedical Engineering (MSBME). Mr. Barrette joined Fricke Cooper Engineering, an engineering firm specializing in traffic crash reconstruction, in 1993. Upon the retirement of Mr. Fricke, Mr. Barrette became a principal in the consulting firm of Cooper Barrette Consulting, L.L.C. Mr. Barrette continues to teach traffic crash investigation and reconstruction courses at the Northwestern University Center for Public Safety. Mr. Barrette spent 42 years in law enforcement recently retiring from the Lake Villa Police Department (patrolman) and was a Deputy Commander with the Lake County, Illinois Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT) during his time with the Lake Villa Police Department. He has been investigating and reconstructing crashes for over 35 years, and has testified in over 500 depositions and trials as an expert witness.

Mr. Hyde has over 1,800 hours of crash investigation and reconstruction training, and he is a certified Crash Reconstruction Specialist, Lead Homicide Investigator, and Truck Enforcement Officer.
Mr. Hyde has over 20 years of law enforcement experience, including the investigation and reconstruction of serious and fatal traffic crashes. Mr. Hyde serves as the Commander for the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT), where he oversees a task force of 60 investigators. He is a certified Bosch Crash Data Retrieval (CDR) System Trainer and Mentor, Technician and Analyst, and applies electric CDR, GPS and cellular phone examinations data to investigations. Mr. Hyde is trained to properly download and preserve data from heavy vehicle event data recorders. Mr. Hyde is an adjunct instructor at Northwestern University Center for Public Safety (NICPS) where he teaches Crash Investigation, Crash Reconstruction and CDR courses. He also develops new courses and is a coauthor of a chapter in the Traffic Crash Investigation Manual and Traffic Crash Reconstruction book. Mr. Hyde joined Cooper Barrette Consulting in 2004.

From 1976 to 1984, Mr. Cooper was a trooper with the Indiana State Police. The last five years of his tenure with the Indiana State Police he served as the Area IV and V Accident Reconstruction Specialist before joining the staff of the Accident Investigation Division at the Northwestern University Traffic Institute (now the Northwestern University Center for Public Safet). While at Northwestern University, Mr. Cooper authored and co-authored several chapters in Traffic Crash Reconstruction published by Northwestern University. He received his V.S. Degree, in Mechanical Engineering Technology from Purdue University graduating magna cum laude. He continues to teach courses offered by Northwestern in the areas of collision investigation and reconstruction. In 1990, he became the Director of the Accident Investigation Division at Northwestern University. Then in 1992, he and Lynn B. Fricke became partners and formed Fricke Cooper Engineering, Inc. an engineering firm specializing in traffic-crash reconstruction. When Mr. Fricke retired in 2000. Mr. Cooper and longtime Fricke Cooper Engineering employee Roger W. Barrette formed Cooper Barrette Consulting, L.L.C.
